Nuance Introduces Fully Integrated Medical Transcription Service

Nuance, already a leader in medical speech recognition software with Dragon medical, recently announced it has launched Nuance Transcription Services, an outsourced service that builds on the company's clinical documentation solutions portfolio.

Leveraging Nuance's speech-enabled transcription platforms, the new offering provides a medical records service that is cost-effective and of the highest quality to aid healthcare organizations to complete the documentation process. It also draws from resources offered by Outsourcing Solutions and Encompass Medical Transcription, which were both recently acquired by Nuance.

"With the expansion of our fully integrated Nuance Transcription Services, we're eliminating healthcare organizations' need to administer and manage traditional clinical documentation processes," Janet Dillione, executive vice president and general manager of Nuance Healthcare, said.

According to a release, Nuance Transcription Services draws from expert professionals, who are highly trained in editing speech-recognized medical documentation. Turnaround time and quality assurance are two standards constantly monitored.

Whether this serves as another blow to the professional transcription industry, or a benefit as more trained transcriptionists are needed to edit the speech-recognized files, remains to be seen.   The fact is, however, speech recognition technology  is here, and as new integrations and application are built around the technology, the transcription field will be forever altered.

Healthcare organizations or transcriptionists looking to add productivity, efficiency and accuracy to their documentation processes can find a full line of voice recording, transcription tools and software, including offerings from Nuance, at American Dictation
