Information Technology Employment in Healthcare on an Upswing.

As the American economy slowly emerges from the depths of the recession, the healthcare industry is slowly but surely seeing a surge in new employment. This is good news to many who are looking for jobs in the healthcare field.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, 4 million new jobs will be created in healthcare by 2018, which would be an annual increase of 2.3 percent from this year. The Times Herald-Record adds to this research that healthcare is actually becoming one of the fastest-growing industry in the U.S.

In Newburgh, New York, for example, the Greater Hudson Valley Family Health Center has already created 42 new jobs in 2010 and will be adding 21 more in this year, the news outlet explained. These positions will help manage the increasing demand for care in the local community of Newburgh.

For the Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown, New York, the priority was employing information technology specialists that would implement an ERS or electronic records system. This means installing digital dictation technology including voice recording devices on computers and dictation software that can be used by health specialists for transcription.
