Report: CIOs will focus on boosting productivity

Improving workforce productivity is expected to be a top accomplishment for chief information officers in 2011, according to a recently released report from CIO magazine that gauges the year ahead for IT departments.

What many CIOs may not realize is that productivity goals may be attained through the use of a digital dictation platform.

According to the magazine's survey, 2011 State of the CIO, 67 respondents cited productivity gains as their top expected accomplishment this year. It's the third straight year the category has led the list. Last year, 63 percent recognized workforce productivity as a key contribution, an increase over the 49 percent in 2009.

Experts and adopters of the technology agree that digital dictation is an excellent way to boost both efficiency and productivity. The technology has been shown to streamline report processes and reduce the turnaround time.

The healthcare industry and court systems have been among the biggest proponents of digital dictation, but the technology is useful in a range of areas.
